The Outage Archive Form references ORA’s
Feeder Inventory, to show number of
residential and commercial customers attached to any feeder.

ORA Functionality
ORA replaces manually-created spreadsheets or text documents and provides the
added advantages of a database for long-term data storage and use. This can be
especially helpful in the event of an audit or high-level request for outage
information or analysis. ORA records all line and feeder outages, and is used to
prepare individual outage profile or summary reports for selected periods,
typically by month, or year. ORA is used to maintain a database of equipment
outages. Flexible query and reporting capability makes this database useful for
both engineering analysis and year-end reporting.
Application Architecture
ORA contains an equipment database that maintains standardized definitions of
lines and feeders, and other relevant data used to log an outage. Lines are
defined either by voltage levels (e.g. 69kV, 34kV) or by Feeder number. ORA’s
Equipment Inventory enables reports that include the number and type of
customers served by any feeder.
Ready to Grow
ORA is a subset of the functionality included in ASCE’s Device Management
Application (DMA). DMA includes all the functionality and reporting for Outage
archiving and analysis that ORA contains, but DMA goes on to include an ODBC
link to the SCADA history database which enables advanced analysis of device
loading throughout the system. DMA also includes additional equipment inventory,
such as bus ties. See the DMA datasheet for more information.
